Pitt Expert Available to Comment on U.S. Postal Service Changes
PITTSBURGH—The United States Postal Service announced today that it will discontinue Saturday mail delivery, effective August 2013.
David Y. Miller, director of the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Metropolitan Studies and professor in Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, is available to comment on this public policy decision, as well as the changing nature of the postal service.
“When you think back to the earliest days of the republic,” said Miller, “the largest and most important public service was the post office. The transition from the role it played in early America to today is quite remarkable.”
Miller can be contacted at 412-805-1267 or dymiller@pitt.edu.
