COOKIE STAR TO SPEAK AT PITT'S 4TH AFRICAN-AMERICAN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 30 -- Wally "Famous" Amos, who gained fame and fortune for his famous chocolate chip cookies, will speak about his experiences as an African-American entrepreneur at the 4th Annual African-American Leadership Conference on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2.30 p.m. in the University of Pittsburgh William Pitt Union Assembly Room, Oakland.

As the keynote speaker of the event, Amos's lecture, "The importance of Economic Empowerment to the Black Community," will encourage young African-Americans to strive for success.

Before becoming the famous cookie star, Amos was a successful personal manager of show business talent. A member of the President's Private Sector Initiatives group, Amos has written an autobiography, "The Famous Amos Story: The Face That Launched A Thousand Chips," and has written and recorded an audio cassette album, "The Power In You," for Nightingale-Conant. In 1980, the Tallahassee, Florida native was inducted into Babson College's Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs.

Amos has also appeared on many TV shows including, The Merv Griffin Show, Tomorrow, Real People, Good Morning America, P.M. Magazine, and The Today Show.
