PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Service will hold its free annual health fair, "A Healthier You in 2002", from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the William Pitt Union Assembly Room in Oakland.

The health fair offers a variety of health screenings, including body composition analyses, cholesterol testing, blood pressure readings, and oral exams. Participants also can collect free items and try their luck at winning the many prizes offered by area merchants.

This year's entertainment includes performances by the Jazz Ensemble, a smaller group of Pitt's Jazz Band; the Pitt Dance Ensemble; an aerobic kickboxing routine by Curtis Smith of Pitt's police force; a yoga demonstration; and a martial arts demonstration by The School of Oom Yung Doe.

The annual health fair is coordinated through Pitt's Health Education Office and is one of the many programs provided by the Student Health Service. Numerous campus groups and community organizations—including West Penn AAA, Family Health Council, and Pitt's School of Dental Medicine— assist in presenting the health fair. The goal of the event is to promote the public's awareness and practice of healthier lifestyles.
