World Premiere of String Quartet Highlights 9/11 Activities at Pitt
PITTSBURGH—Music of consolation will set the tone for the University of Pittsburgh's activities to mark the second anniversary of Sept. 11.
Roger Zahab, violinist and director of the Pitt Chamber Orchestra, will present the world premiere of "…and stars will appear" in Heinz Chapel at 9 a.m and again at 4 p.m. Zahab wrote the piece specifically for this occasion. The composition "…and stars will appear" reflects the spirit of the University's observance of Sept. 11 as a time for quiet reflection, following the lead of observances in New York City and the wishes of the Sept.11 victims' families.
