Performance to Benefit Pitt's Future Philippine Nationality Room
PITTSBURGH—As part of their United States tour, Ballet Manila will present a benefit performance for the proposed University of Pittsburgh Philippine Nationality Room at 7:30 p.m. June 4 in Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.
The planned program includes internationally acclaimed award-winning choreography inspired by Filipino traditions and other selections set to contemporary music.
Ballet Manila fuses classical ballet choreography with Filipino and Asian dance. The company also has produced ballet classics and has toured with other international companies. It has performed at various locales internationally and in the Philippine islands. The selections in this year's U.S. tour reflect both the past and present of Filipino culture.
