New Conference Center Unveiled at Pitt's School of Social Work Oct. 20
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work (SSW) will unveil a new space within the Cathedral of Learning designed to simplify and consolidate its training and educational programs. A grand opening for the SSW Conference Center will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 20 in Room 2017 of the Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
Pitt Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg and Provost James V. Maher will make brief remarks beginning at 4:15 p.m., followed by comments from SSW Dean Larry Davis, who is also the Donald M. Henderson Professor and director of the SSW Center on Race and Social Problems (CRSP).
The new conference center will fill 2,000 square feet of space on the Cathedral's 20th floor. It is equipped with Video CODEC technology for videoconferencing and multi-point conference calls. It can seat approximately 90 people for various SSW professional development programs, training sessions, seminars, and classroom instruction, as well as serve as the new site for the School's Distinguished Speaker Series and CRSP's Reed Smith Spring Speaker Series and Buchanan Ingersoll Fall Speaker Series.
