The University of Pittsburgh Releases Draft Report on Operations at Pitt–Titusville

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh has prepared a report on the situation of the Pitt–Titusville campus that outlines potential approaches to achieving greater institutional stability while continuing to serve the needs of students.

The report was generated after conversations with members of the Pitt–Titusville community, the Pitt–Titusville Advisory Board, members of the Pitt–Titusville faculty and staff, and elected representatives.

“When we examined possible options for the future of the campus, we focused on three criteria: serving the education and training needs of Titusville and the region, the mission of the University of Pittsburgh and financial sustainability,” said Lawrence Feick, vice provost for special projects at the University of Pittsburgh. “We considered a range of options for Titusville, including continuing with the status quo but also radically changing the programs we offer and the ways we operate. At the core, though, a key motivation for our work was helping traditional and nontraditional students prepare for success in life and the workplace.”

The report is available for review and comment here. Comments may be submitted through the website. In addition, University of Pittsburgh representatives will be at the Pitt–Titusville campus from 9 to 10 a.m. on June 9, 2017, in the Henne Auditorium to receive input.

Comments received by June 15, 2017, will be considered in revising this report, which will be presented for discussion at the June meeting of the University of Pittsburgh Board of Trustees. The report will be finalized in the fall, a plan for implementation will be developed and the implementation of recommendations is expected to unfold over multiple years.
