PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh is one of the United States’ best large employers with more than 5,000 employees, according to rankings by Forbes Media and Statista, a statistics company.
The University was ranked 29th among 500 employers that included Google (2nd), Facebook (11th), and NASA (28th). Pitt was ranked 3rd among universities, behind the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Duke University. The University was ranked 1st out of 15 Pennsylvania employers and was the only school in Pennsylvania to be featured.
“The University of Pittsburgh has a fantastic heritage, built on a foundation of dedicated staff and faculty who every day share their pride and passion to serve a community of learners. I am proud of our colleagues and not surprised at all that Pitt has been recognized among America’s Best Large Employers of 2016,” said Ronald W. Frisch, vice chancellor of human resources.
An internationally renowned public-research university founded in 1787, the University of Pittsburgh is a leading center of learning and research in the arts, sciences, humanities, professions, and health sciences with more than 34,000 students and more than 13,000 employees on five campuses.
