University of Pittsburgh Stages Kicks Off 2014-15 Season With Stop Kiss

PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh Stages—the production company for Pitt's Department of Theatre Arts—kicks off its season Oct. 2 with Stop Kiss.

Performances run through Oct. 12 in Pitt's Henry Heymann Theatre, in the basement of the Stephen Foster Memorial, 4301 Forbes Ave., Oakland. Curtain is at 8 p.m. except for Sunday matinees, which begin at 2 p.m. Call 412-624-PLAY (7529) or visit www.play.pitt.edu for more information.

Stop Kiss, first produced in 1998 in New York City, is the work of playwright Diana Son. She tells the story of two women—Sara, in New York on a fellowship to teach third grade in the Bronx, and Callie, a 20-something traffic reporter. As their lives intermingle, romance builds to one fateful kiss on a park bench. The fallout of that single kiss reverberates through their lives, changing them in ways they did not expect.

Stop Kiss is directed by theatre arts senior Brittany Coyne and features a cast of six undergraduates. Sophomore theatre arts and political science double major Leenie Baker plays Sara, and senior theatre arts major Lucy Clabby is in the role of Callie.
