Pitt Schools and Programs Ranked in U.S. News’ Best Graduate Schools Guidebook
PITTSBURGH—In newly released statistics from U.S. News & World Report, a number of University of Pittsburgh schools and programs have excelled in the Best Graduate Schools 2015 guidebook rankings.
In Medical Specialties, Pitt’s School of Medicine is ranked No. 4 in women’s health, No. 7 in pediatrics, and No. 9 in geriatrics. In the research category of The Top Schools of Medicine, Pitt’s medical school ranks No. 17. In the primary care category of The Top Schools of Medicine, it has advanced from No. 24 to No. 18 this year, where it is tied with Dartmouth College and Indiana University—Indianapolis.
In The Top Schools of Education category, Pitt’s School of Education leapt forward from No. 32 to No. 22, where it is tied with the University of Virginia. In addition, the Swanson School of Engineering continued its trajectory within the top 50 in The Top Schools of Engineering category, moving from No. 45 last year to No. 43 this year, tied with Arizona State University.
In the Nursing category, last ranked in 2011, several Pitt programs are in the top 10. The master’s program in nursing anesthesia is No. 3 and the general master’s degree program is No. 7. The nurse practitioner program is No. 4 in pediatric care and No. 6 in adult care, while the clinical nurse specialist program in psychiatric/mental health is ranked No. 6. In the category of nursing service administration, Pitt is No. 9.
In the Health category, comprising disciplines last ranked in 2011 or 2012, Pitt’s master’s and PhD programs in physical therapy are ranked No. 3, the master’s and PhD programs in occupational therapy are No. 6, and the PhD program in audiology and the master’s program in speech-language pathology are both No. 8. The master’s and doctoral programs in public health and the master’s program in social work all ranked No. 11.
Within Library and Information Studies, last ranked in 2013, Pitt is No. 10 in The Top Schools category and has scored high within Library and Information Studies Specialties, ranking No. 3 in health librarianship, No. 4 in information systems, No. 6 in archives and preservation, and No. 10 in digital librarianship.
