University of Pittsburgh Issues Traffic Alert for Students’ Return August 17-25, 2013
PITTSBURGH—The influx of students who will be returning to campus residence halls between Aug. 17 and 25, 2013, has prompted the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Parking and Transportation Services to issue the following traffic advisory.
Forbes and Fifth Avenues in Oakland will experience heavy traffic during this time.
Bigelow Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic between Forbes and Fifth Avenues from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19; from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 20 and 21; and from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
Lothrop Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between Fifth Avenue and Victoria Street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 21-23.
University Place will be closed to vehicular traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 19-21, and from 9 a.m to 3 p.m Aug. 22 and 23.
The Schenley Quadrangle will be closed to all vehicular traffic August 17-25.
Ruskin Avenue will experience heavy traffic Aug. 19-23, and parking meters on Ruskin Avenue will be restricted to individuals moving into Ruskin Hall.
Allequippa Street will experience heavy traffic during this period as well, and Pitt Police will be stationed at the corner of Allequippa Street and University Drive C to direct traffic.
Heavy traffic around Pitt’s campus is expected on Aug. 21 as a result of Freshman Convocation at the Petersen Events Center at 3 p.m.
