Connecting Pittsburgh-Area After-School Program Directors With Arts, Health, Literacy Resources
PITTSBURGH—A free networking event designed to connect those who run after-school programs in the Pittsburgh area with organizations that can provide resources and content will take place from 9 a.m. to noon March 28 at the Union Project, 801 N. Negley Ave., Highland Park.
An enrichment fair cosponsored by Pitt’s Office of Child Development and the Neighborhood Learning Alliance, the March 28 event will feature more than 40 organizations that provide such resources as physical recreation, studio arts, theater, literacy programs, cooking, homework help, and career exploration. Staff members from the participating organizations will be stationed at tables and give presentations about their offerings to those who run after-school programs throughout the region. The fair has been designed to foster stronger and more engaging programs for Pittsburgh-area young people.
The event is supported in part by a Spark Award from The Sprout Fund. Founded in 2001, The Sprout Fund describes itself as one of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s leading agencies for catalytic small-scale funding, civic engagement, digital media and learning, and public art, with Spark Awards created to build greater awareness of and access to remarkable learning experiences for children, youth, and families.
No preregistration is required for the March 28 fair. For more information, contact Penny Lang at plk5@pitt.edu or J. Wester at wester@wireless-neighborhoods.org.
