PITTSBURGH—More than 200 employers and 3,000 University of Pittsburgh students and recent graduates are expected to gather Tuesday at the Petersen Events Center as the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Career Development and Placement hosts its annual Fall Career Fair. The largest on-campus recruiting event of the year will feature employers from around the country who are recruiting for a wide range of internships, and full-time and part-time positions in a variety of fields. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Petersen Events Center, 3719 Terrace St., Oakland.

“It is so important for all of our students to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Cheryl Finlay, director of the career development office.  “It’s obviously crucial that seniors entering the job market participate in as many career fairs and networking events as possible, but it’s also important for students considering internships in the spring or summer, or even next year, to be there to meet employers as well.  Even first-year students should come and begin to get comfortable networking with recruiters.”

Employers representing a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, health, non-profit, insurance, and financial planning will be on hand. Some of the employers participating in this fall’s fair include Highmark, Kraft Foods, Innovation Works, the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, Abercrombie & Fitch, Google, Teach for America, Waddell & Reed, and the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Career Fair is the start of “Career Week” at Pitt. Following the Career Fair on Tues. Sept. 25, an Engineering Fall Co-op Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wed., Sept. 26, at the William Pitt Union; a Graduate and Law School Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 27, at the William Pitt Union; and the College of Business Administration (CBA) will host the CBA Career Conference on from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the David Lawrence Convention Center.
