2/20 through 4/28   Pitt’s University Library System presents an exhibition titled “Pitt—225 Years of Building Better Lives—1787-2012,” on display in the lobby of the ground floor, Hillman Library, 3960 Forbes Ave., Oakland. It includes old photographs, maps, and copies of the front pages of the two original state charters, on loan from the PA State Archives, that created Pittsburgh Academy and the Western University of Pennsylvania, which eventually became the University of Pittsburgh. 2/28 through 4/28   Pitt’s University Library System (ULS) will display the front pages of the original state charters that created Pittsburgh Academy and the Western University of Pennsylvania, which eventually became the University of Pittsburgh, to mark Pitt’s anniversary—225 Years of Building Better Lives. The documents, which are on loan to the University of Pittsburgh from the PA State Archives, will be on display in the glass Audubon case, ground floor, Hillman Library, 3960 Forbes Ave., Oakland. 2/22 Robert Sampson, Henry Ford II Professor and director of the Social Sciences Program of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, will deliver a free lecture titled “Inequality and the American City: Implications of the Neighborhood Effect” at noon at Pitt’s Center on Race and Social Problems, 20th floor, Cathedral of Learning, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
