PITT ALUMNI WEB SITE ILLUSTRATES THE LATEST IN TECHNOLOGY

Contact:

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 9 -- Log on to www.alumni.pitt.edu and see the latest in new technology at work at the University of Pittsburgh as you view Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg's "State of the University" address on streaming video.

The 45-minute "State of the University" address opened the University's recent Discovery Weekend. The weekend designed to showcase the University's commitment to the best in education, research, and teaching, is now further highlighted in this on-line version of Nordenberg's address.

"This also illustrates the University's technological capabilities and its commitment to follow through and keep up with the latest in technology," said Doug Nelson, on-line community liaison and web page editor for the Alumni Association.

With the insight of the Alumni Association's current president, Samuel Zacharais (CAS '64), and with the help of the University's Center for Instructional Development and Distance Education, University Relations, and Media Services at UPMC, the public site is up and accessible to all those interested in hearing and seeing what the University of Pittsburgh has to offer. Last June, the Alumni Association, in its continued effort to support the University's mission, launched an Alumni On-line Community site, which features an Alumni On-line Directory, Career Center, Marketplace, personal home pages, and permanent e-mail.
