PITT NAMES CHANCELLOR'S DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDEES

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 7 -- The 2000/2001 Chancellor's Distinguished Service Award for Excellence for Staff Employees has been awarded to five University of Pittsburgh staff members who have demonstrated dedication to the University beyond the responsibilities of their jobs.

The five, chosen from a pool of 18 nominees, will be honored and receive a $2,500 cash prize at the Staff Recognition Day celebration on Thursday,

Dec. 14, at 3 p.m., in the William Pitt Union Ballroom.

They are: Carol Capson, personnel/payroll operations manager in the School of Education dean's office; Delores E. Johnson, communications support specialist in University Relations, Graphics, Marketing, and Printing; Jeffrey D. Liebmann, academic planning associate in the Office of the Provost; Kathleen A. Rud, executive assistant to the dean of the Faculty and College of Arts and Sciences; and Stephen P. Zupcic, coordinator of the University's Volunteer Pool in the Office of Community and Governmental Relations.

The Chancellor's Award winners also will be recognized at the 2001 Honors Convocation with other outstanding faculty members, students, and alumni. Their names will be inscribed on a plaque to be displayed in the William Pitt Union.
