PITT PROGRAM COUNCIL TO SPONSOR NEWT GINGRICH LECTURE

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 4 -- Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, will present a lecture, "Living in the Age of Possibilities," on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8:30 p.m., in the University of Pittsburgh William Pitt Union (WPU) Assembly Room, 3959 Fifth Avenue, Oakland.

There will be a media availability prior to the lecture, at 7:30 p.m., in the WPU Kurtzman Room.

Gingrich is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. and a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He also started The Gingrich Group, an Atlanta-based communications and management-consulting firm.

A member of the board of directors at the Internet Policy Institute and the United States Commission on National Security/21st Century, Gingrich recently joined the Fox News Channel as a political analyst. He has traveled throughout the country giving speeches on a wide variety of topics.

Gingrich's appearance is sponsored by the Pitt Program Council. Tickets, available in the WPU Ticket Office, are $5 with a valid undergraduate Pitt ID or with a CGS or graduate voucher, and $15 for all others. For more information, call 412-648-7900.
