PITT, ARMY WAR COLLEGE TO EXPLORE KOREAN WAR LESSONS
PITTSBURGH, June 22 -- The General Matthew B. Ridgway Center for International Security Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and the Army War College are hosting a one-day seminar on "The Korean War: Lessons for the Next
50 Years," on Tuesday, June 27, at the University Club, 121 University Place in Oakland.
The seminar begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., and concludes at approximately 3:45 p.m. Sessions will focus on issues that were raised by the Korean War and are still relevant for U.S. military operations and political and military strategies in the 21st century.
Among the topics to be discussed are the continued relevance of limited war, the importance of strategic surprise, the value of air power, the role and functions of the United Nations, U.S.-China relations, lessons from the negotiating table, civilian and military leadership, integration of the armed forces, and U.S.-North Korea nuclear dealings.
