PITTSBURGH, April 17 -- "Pitt Med," the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine magazine, has been awarded a Gold Medal from the national Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in the Special Constituency Magazine category.

Launched in October, 1999 by the School of Medicine, "Pitt Med" shares the ongoing intellectual adventure of the school with alumni and friends. The magazine promotes the quality and achievements of the school, raises awareness of the school's outstanding reputation, and provides a communications tool that contributes to the school's efforts to build that reputation.

CASE is the professional association of college and university advancement officials. The annual CASE awards recognize the "best of the best" in nationwide higher education marketing, promotion, and programming. Sixty entries were judged in the Special Constituency Magazine category as part of the nationwide 2000 CASE Circle of Education Awards Program. Two gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals were awarded.
