PITT PROFESSOR TO RECEIVE "EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING" HONOR
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 7 -- Donald M. Goldstein, professor in the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, will receive the prestigious "Excellence in Teaching" Award for 1999 from the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA.)
The award recognizes members of NASPAA institutions who make outstanding contributions to education for the public service through excellence in teaching. Said Claire Felbinger, chair of the 1999 awards committee, "(Goldstein's) energetic commitment to the ideals of quality education for those in or entering public service is an inspiration for younger faculty."
Goldstein, who will be given his award during the NASPAA Annual Conference in Miami Beach, Fla., Oct. 14-17, is an internationally renowned expert on Pearl Harbor and World War II. His teaching and research fields include military history, arms control, national interest and national security, international relations, and foreign policy process.
NASPAA is an international membership organization which promotes excellence in public service education. The membership includes 245 U.S. university programs in public affairs, public policy, public administration, and nonprofit management.
