PITT TO HOST CAREER DAY AND AL MCDOWELL MEDIA FORUM
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 4 -- The University of Pittsburgh Department of English will host a Career Day Panel Thursday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Al McDowell/Pittsburgh Media Forum at 7 p.m. in the Lower Lounge of the William Pitt Union (WPU).
Career Day panelists will be Bill Moushey, award winning investigative reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; Robert Bianco, TV critic for USA Today; Chris Fletcher, editor of Pittsburgh Magazine; Barbara Leary, account executive at Ketchum; Mark Madden, host of the radio sports program "The Mark Madden Show," and John Temple, a former reporter for the Tampa Tribune and the Greensboro (N.C.) News and Record.
Bill Moushey will be the featured speaker for the Al McDowell/Pittsburgh Media Forum. His talk is titled "Writing as a Career: If I Can Do It, So Can You." The Al McDowell Memorial Scholarship winner also will be announced that evening. The undergraduate scholarship supports a student in the English Deparment's nonfiction writing program.
A dessert reception follows the forum. All events, co-sponsored by the English writing program and the Pitt News, are free and open to the public. For more information, call Patsy Sims at 624-6536 or Harry Kloman at 648-7842.
