10/15 The Cultural Studies Program, History of Art & Architecture Department, and Faculty of Arts and Sciences present "Picturing Politics: A Symposium on the Chinese Creative Woodblock Print Movement." Presentations include: "The Human Figure and Chinese Modernity" by Tsong-zung Chang, Director of the Hanart TZ Gallery in Hong Kong; "Prints as Art, Prints as Propaganda: The Woodcut and Modern Chinese Art" by Julia Andrews, professor of Art History at Ohio State University; "National Reform, Revolutionary and Resistance Themes in Chinese Popular Prints, 1900-1940" by Ellen Laing, Professor Emerita at the University of Oregon; and "The Cultural Politics of Filmmaking in China, 1949-1999" by Paul Pickowicz, professor of History at the University of California at San Diego.
