PITT LECTURE SERIES TO PRESENT ANTI-LAND MINE ADVOCATE

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 16 -- Robert "Bobby" Muller, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation and co-founder of the International Campaign to Ban Land Mines, will be this year's speaker for the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) Lecture Series on Nonprofit Management, Monday, Sept. 28.

Muller's presentation and discussion on "International Advocacy: Myth and Reality," will begin at 5:30 p.m. It will be held in Room 2K56 of the Forbes Quadrangle Building, 230 S. Bouquet Street in Oakland, behind Hillman Library. The event is free and open to the public. It will be preceded by a reception at 4:30 p.m.

Muller is an internationally known advocate for victims of war and violence. Since 1991, Muller has played a lead role in the international campaign to ban land mines, which now includes over 1000 organizations in 60 nations. He is an expert on this topic, in high demand as a lecturer and presenter on major news shows including the Jim Lehrer News Hour, Nightline, Today, and Good Morning America. Muller also speaks on the challenges and opportunities of founding and managing an international advocacy organization.

The GSPIA Lecture Series on Nonprofit Management, now in its eighth year, is offered as a public service. This year it is presented by GSPIA, the University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and the United Nations Association of Pittsburgh, and with generous support from the Forbes Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation.
