9/20 University Organist Robert Sutherland Lord opens his annual recital series which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the dedication of Heinz Chapel. The program will include works by Jean Langlais, J. S. Bach, Charles Tournemire, and others. Heinz Memorial Chapel, 3 p.m. Free admission. For more information, call 624-4125.

9/20 The Pittsburgh Compline Choir continues its Compline Choir Series with Joyce Moon Strobel, organ and Lianne Sheplar, flute. 9/22 Pitt's Department of Music's new music series, Music on the Edge, presents an unusual concert by Micro-Ritmia Duet. The duet features duo pianists performing music using their own musical technique, micro-ritmia. Frick Fine Arts Auditorium,

EXHIBIT

9/16 - 12/11Pitt's University Art Gallery presents Creating a Sense of Place: Devotion Builds a Campus. The four exhibits presented are: Honoring Cultural Traditions: The 60th Anniversary of the Nationality Rooms; Heinz Memorial Chapel: Celebrating 60 Years of Light; In the Public Eye, A Century of Art and Architecture on Pitt's Campus; and Over Time: The Art of Jane Haskell. The curators for the exhibits are the students from the 1998 Museum Studies Seminar at Pitt. Frick Fine Arts, University Art Gallery, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday - Friday. 10/1 - 10/3 The University of Pittsburgh's William Pitt Union, formerly the Schenley Hotel, celebrates its 100th anniversary with several days of festivities. LECTURE

9/21 The University of Pittsburgh's "Pittsburgh Contemporary Writers Series" presents its opening guest, author Gay Talese.
