3/18 Pitt's Department of Music presents the University Chamber Orchestra featuring Randall Thompson's The American Mercury, performed by the Orchestra with the Men's Glee Club and Women's Choral Ensemble. 3/21 Pitt's Department of Music presents a concert by the University of Pittsburgh Gamelan Ensemble. This ensemble of musical instruments from Indonesia consists of large and small gongs, drums, and metallophones. The Pitt student ensemble will perform the music of the Sundanese people. THEATRE

3/17 - 4/4 Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre presents Pearle Cleage's "Blues for an Alabama Sky," directed by Vernell A. Lillie. The Pit Theatre, corner of South Bouquet and Sennott Streets in Oakland. 3/21 Pitt's Department of Theatre Arts presents "Shakespeare for Children: A Midsummer Night's Dream." This is a children's adaptation of the Shakespearean classic for ages 6 to 12, performed by actors from Pitt's Theatre Arts Department. SPECIAL EVENT

3/21 Pitt's Cultural Studies Program will coordinate a dialogue between Gore Vidal and Christopher Hitchens. Soldiers and Sailors Hall, 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).
