PITT'S GENERATIONS TOGETHER PERFORMS THE PLAY "YEARBOOK" AT PPG WINTERGARDEN
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 15 -- The University of Pittsburgh's Generations Together will perform "Yearbook," an intergenerational play exploring social issues common to both the elderly and young people, on Thursday, Jan. 16 at noon at the PPG Wintergarden. The performance is free and open to the public.
Humorous and thought-provoking, "Yearbook" features a 6-member cast made up of young graduates and students of Pitt's Theatre Arts Department, and two senior citizens. As the 50-minute play progresses, its characters reach a new awareness and understanding of race relations, substance abuse, peer pressure, family struggles, and other issues common to both generations. Noted historian Richard Altenbaugh introduces each performance; following the play, the actors initiate a lively discussion with the audience.
"Yearbook" was written by Pitt Theatre Arts Professor Attilio "Buck" Favorini in 1993 and since then, has been featured more than 40 times at local high schools, libraries and senior citizen centers. This performance is part of the play's 1997-98 winter tour, funded by the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and PPG Industries.
