Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre to Hold Auditions for Upcoming Broadway Musical Sweet Thunder: The Billy Strayhorn Story
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre will hold auditions at 6:30 p.m. April 18 for roles in its upcoming musical Sweet Thunder: The Billy Strayhorn Story.
Guest director Paul Carter Harrison is looking for male and female actors who can sing, dance, and play roles that range between the ages of 25 and 40.
Auditions will take place in the Seventh-Floor Auditorium of Alumni Hall,
4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland, and men and women of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to participate. Those auditioning should be prepared to present a two-minute monologue. They also should bring their own sheet music, a resume, and a recent photo.
Sweet Thunder: The Billy Strayhorn Story explores the life of Pittsburgh native Billy Strayhorn, whose collaborations with Duke Ellington over three decades produced "Take the 'A' Train" and many other memorable jazz tunes.
