Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre to Hold Auditions For Upcoming Musicals
PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre is holding auditions for actors, dancers, and musicians for its ongoing series of Broadway musicals.
Auditions for Bubbling Brown Sugar, Jelly's Last Jam, and Sweet Thunder: The Billy Strayhorn Story will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Seventh-Floor Auditorium of Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The next show, Bubbling Brown Sugar, will feature 1976 Tony Award nominee Vivian Reed.
Men and women of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to participate, especially those who enjoy the music of Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Jelly Roll Morton, and Fats Waller. Kuntu is looking for male and female singers and dancers capable of performing roles as Black and Caucasian characters, especially those of males more than 30 years of age and Black males 18-25 years of age.
Those auditioning should be prepared to present a two-minute monologue. They also should bring their own sheet music, a resume, and a recent photo. For more information, call 412-624-7298.
