Area "Diplomats" Honored
PITTSBURGH—As mock representatives of the United Nations member countries of China, France, Germany, Guyana, and Spain, 12 local high school students earned individual recognition Nov. 8 at Pitt's eighth annual Model United Nations (Model U.N.) Simulation.
Recipients of Diplomacy Awards were:
Eva Bitran, Schenley High School;
Lydia Caparosa, Butler Senior High School;
James Franek, Butler Senior High School;
Paul Katz, Mt. Lebanon High School;
Claire Kelly, Mt. Lebanon High School;
Hannah Pileggi, Fox Chapel High School;
Alexa Roberts, Mt. Lebanon High School;
Ehsan Sadeghipour, Mt. Lebanon High School;
Neal Spada, Mt. Lebanon High School;
Alexandra Taylor, Fox Chapel High School;
Paula Tonsor, Schenley High School; and
Luke Wildfire, Mt. Lebanon High School.
Students were evaluated throughout the Model U.N. simulation at Pitt, and Diplomacy Awards were given in recognition of a student's ability to realistically present the position of the country he or she represented in mock sessions of the United Nations, Caribbean Community, and North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
In addition to individual awards, several school delegations were recognized for outstanding performances, including the French and South African delegations from Mt. Lebanon High School and the Fox Chapel delegation representing Barbados.
