PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business' M.B.A. program ranked 11th worldwide among public institutions rated in a survey of corporate recruiters published today in The Wall Street Journal/Harris Interactive "Top Business Schools" Report. In the report, the Katz School also ranked first among public business schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Overall, in the report's worldwide ranking of M.B.A. programs at public and private institutions, the Katz School ranked 33rd.

In the report's cover story, "A New Winner," Journal news editor Ronald Alsop wrote that the Katz School "placed highest among the schools making their debut in The Wall Street Journal ranking." Alsop noted that "Pitt is popular with some recruiters because of its fast-track one-year M.B.A. degree." The article also quoted Lawrence Lane, a finance supervisor at Ford Motor Company, as saying, "Pitt's one-year program is more indicative of the fast rate of learning required in the workplace, where you don't have two years to get up to speed. Pitt is also a good fit with the Ford culture of teamwork."
