PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh will host the Take Our Daughters to Work Day: Celebrating Women and Technology Fair for more than 100 daughters of Pitt staff, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 24 in the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland.

The fair will include 20 informational and interactive exhibits related to science and technology. Girls will have the opportunity to look at the "guts" of a computer, test their typing skills against their parents', create digital pictures, and hear a simulated infant heartbeat. The informational exhibits will expose the girls to technology initiatives available in Pittsburgh and to opportunities for involvement in different technology programs.

"The technology fair is a great opportunity to initiate interest in science and to encourage the girls to get more involved with technology in the future," said Cynthia Wetmiller, Western Pennsylvania Director of the Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance at Pitt.

The Technology Fair is sponsored by TechSERVE, a program of Faith Tech and Student Volunteer Outreach. Funding for the Technology Fair is provided by the Vira I. Heinz Endowments.
