Marci Belchick has been named creative director in the University of Pittsburgh Office of Public Affair's Department of University Marketing Communications (UMC). UMC Executive Director Michelle Garraux announced the appointment today.

Belchick, who had her own design and advertising firm for nine years, has extensive experience as an art director working in graphic design, advertising, marketing communications, and multimedia. She is the recipient of six Pittsburgh Advertising Federation "Addy" Awards.

"Marci brings to University Marketing Communications a portfolio packed with award-winning projects she has completed for more than 70 organizations on the East and West coasts, a demonstrated ability to lead a creative team, and a strong desire for excellence that befits the top designer for the University of Pittsburgh," says Garraux.

As creative director for UMC, Belchick will oversee the design and production aspects of all the work produced. This involves many different aspects of marketing communications, including advertising, corporate identity, high-end graphic design, photography, and personnel and management issues.

"The University of Pittsburgh offers so many opportunities to work with talented people on interesting projects," says Belchick. "I'm especially excited to begin working with others throughout the University community in ways that advance the reputations of their schools, departments, and programs. I'd like the University of Pittsburgh's marketing materials to be recognized consistently as among the best in the nation."

Belchick is an alumna of Art Institutes International's Multimedia Program.

She lives in the Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh.
