Pitt's Kuntu Repertory Theatre to Host 3rd Annual "Poetry Slamm" Contest

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh's Kuntu Repertory Theatre will hold its 3rd Annual "Poetry Slamm" Contest on Oct. 3, 2002. The competition is open to individuals of high school age or older, and the winner will receive a $100 cash prize and other gifts, courtesy of Kuntu and Oakland area stores.

All entries must be original material and performances will be limited to three minutes. Entries, which must be received by Sept. 27 and include contact information, should be sent to Kuntu Repertory Theatre, 3T01 Posvar Hall,

230 S. Bouquet Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15260.

The top three finalists will present their poems Oct. 17 and 19 during intermission of Kuntu's season-opening production of "Hieroglyphic Graffiti," a modern hip-hop play by Chadwick Boesman. "Hieroglyphic Graffiti" will be performed from Oct. 17 through Nov. 2 in the 7th Floor Auditorium of Pitt's Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Avenue in Oakland.
