First Pitt and Buchanan Ingersoll Diversity Scholarship Winner Named

PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh graduating senior Lea Terlonge has been selected as the first Buchanan Ingersoll/Pitt Diversity Scholarship recipient. The award provides Terlonge, who has been admitted to the Pitt School of Law's Class of 2005, with full in-state tuition during her three years of law school.

The letter Terlonge received from Buchanan Ingersoll stated, "This award is made on the basis of your outstanding academic achievement and reflects the admission committee's and Buchanan Ingersoll's belief that you have demonstrated the potential to be an extremely successful law student and lawyer." Bill Newlin, CEO of Buchanan Ingersoll, said, "We are pleased to be a partner with the University of Pittsburgh Law School in this scholarship program. It demonstrates both Buchanan Ingersoll's and Pitt's continued commitment to diversity."

The Pitt/Buchanan Ingersoll Diversity Scholarship—which is being granted to one eligible candidate each academic year beginning with Terlonge this fall—was created to attract outstanding students to Pitt's School of Law and help provide the Pittsburgh legal community with a diverse pool of attorneys.

While attending Pitt full-time, Terlonge has worked for Time-Life Libraries Inc., downtown. She also has served as the fund-raising chair of the Pitt College of General Studies' Public Administration student organization, and, as a freshman, she was an ROTC midshipman. A political science major with a history minor in Pitt's College of Arts and Sciences, Terlonge will receive the Bachelor of Arts degree Sunday at Pitt's 1 p.m. commencement ceremony in Mellon Arena.

A resident of Pittsburgh, Terlonge is the daughter of Junesse Terlonge and Delouis Terlonge Sr. of Wellington, Fla.
