Pitt's University Center for International Studies to Host "International Connections" for African American Public High School Students

PITTSBURGH—The University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh is hosting "International Connections: Planning for Your Future"—a program for African American public high school students with strong interests in careers in the international field—from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 27 in Room 2MP56 Posvar Hall, 230 S. Bouquet St. on the Pitt campus.

Panelists for the day will include Pitt alumna Lynette Clemetson, national correspondent for Newsweek magazine, who earned a master's degree in East Asian studies at Pitt in 1994; Tamar Robinson, an agent in the Hong Kong branch of the investment banking firm of Solomon Smith Barney; Randy Jones, owner of MRI Management, a consulting firm in New York City; Sundaa Bridgett, deputy director for Democracy and Media, Central Asian Regional Mission, U.S. Agency for International Development; and Damon Woods, program officer, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Africa Branch, U.S. Department of State.

Panel presentations will be followed by simultaneous small group sessions—"The Global Professional," "Your Cultural I.Q.," and "A World of Opportunities"—where students and speakers will discuss selected topics or themes.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
