Pitt to Host April 6 Panel Discussion on Response and Recovery Efforts Following Earthquake in Haiti

PITTSBURGH--It has been almost three months since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, and the international relief effort is transitioning from response to recovery in Haiti. An April 6 panel discussion titled "Haiti: Transition to Recovery," hosted by the University of Pittsburgh, will focus on the progress being made in addressing urgent humanitarian needs in Haiti, including access to housing, food, clean water, and basic health care services. The free public event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. in 120 David Lawrence Hall, 3942 Forbes Ave., Oakland.

Moderated by John T.S. Keeler, dean of Pitt's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), the discussion will include first-hand reports on the progress being made and the many challenges ahead.

The event is sponsored by Pitt's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and its affiliate centers, the Center for Disaster Management, the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership, the Innovation Clinic, and the Philanthropy Forum, as well as by the Graduate School of Public Health, the Center for Public Health Preparedness, and Public Health Adaptive Systems Studies.
