Pitt's Asian Studies Center and the Japan Society to Present U.S. Debut of the Yamamoto Kyogen Company Tour March 20
PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's Asian Studies Center in cooperation with the Japan Society will present the U.S. debut of the Yamamoto Kyogen Company, which performs Japanese classical comic theater. The performance will begin at 8 p.m. March 20 at the Charity Randall Theatre in the Stephen Foster Memorial, Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard, Oakland.
The Asian Studies Center with the University Center for International Studies and the Japan Society present the U.S. debut tour of the Yamamoto Kyogen Company. Kyogen (literally "mad words") is a form of Japanese theater dating back to the medieval era. The Yamamoto Kyogen troupe, on a six-city tour of North America, will perform two plays: Shido Hogaku (Stop in your Tracks) and Tsukimi-zato (Moon-viewing Blind Man).
The performance is free to Pitt students, faculty, and staff; cost for non-Pitt students and seniors is $10 and for the general public, $15. For tickets, call the Charity Randall Theatre Box Office at 412-624-7529, or tickets can also be reserved online at www.play.pitt.edu.
The Asian Studies Center is part of Pitt's University Center for International Studies.
