PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's Office of Technology Management (OTM) and Carnegie Mellon University will cosponsor a showcase of emerging university technologies at the conclusion of the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association's 3 Rivers Venture Fair, Sept. 15-16 at PNC Park, Pittsburgh.

In keeping with the baseball theme of the venue, the event is titled "On Deck Circle" and will feature poster presentations of up to 30 cutting-edge technologies developed at Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, Ohio University, Case Western Reserve University, Penn State, and West Virginia University. This is the first time the 3 Rivers Venture Fair will feature a showcase of technologies at the front-end of the commercialization spectrum-technologies that have yet to been licensed to industry or featured as the main product of a start-up company.

The 3 Rivers Venture Fair is a prominent showcase of promising, privately held, capital-seeking technology and biotech companies from the Mid-West, Mid-Atlantic, and East Coast Regions. This two-day event draws some of the nation's most prominent investors and venture capitalists seeking lucrative investment opportunities among the roster of featured companies from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, New York, Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, in addition to companies from the D.C. and northern Virginia regions.

In addition to OTM, Pitt's Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence and Katz Executive MBA Programs and Center for Executive Education are among the more than 70 sponsors for the fair.

The first 3 Rivers Venture Fair was held in April 2002 and was instrumental in helping featured companies raise more than $50 million in investment capital. Today, the total money raised collectively by the fair's roster of past participants has exceeded $292 million.
