Pitt Issues Statement in Response to Indictment of Louisa Ewuresi Nkrumah
PITTSBURGH-In response to U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan's announcement yesterday that Louisa Ewuresi Nkrumah of Harrisburg, Pa., has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of threatening real or personal property on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh, Pitt has issued the following statement:
As a result of bomb threats to University buildings in April 2008, the University of Pittsburgh Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a joint investigation that led to a federal grand jury indictment Jan. 14, 2009, of Louisa Ewuresi Nkrumah, a former University of Pittsburgh student. Nkrumah's alleged actions caused alarm and forced evacuations of buildings on campus, and the University is pleased that the rapid and thorough police work of the Pitt Police and FBI resulted in the identification of a suspect and subsequent indictment.
