Pitt's Study Abroad Office Announces 2008 "Pitt Around the Planet" International Photography Contest

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh's "Pitt Around the Planet" International Photography Contest, sponsored by the Study Abroad Office as part of International Week 2008 festivities, will be held in the Kimbo Art Gallery on the main floor of the William Pitt Union (WPU), 3959 Fifth Ave., from Sept. 23 to Oct. 3. Guidelines for the contest are as follows:

The photo contest is open to current Pitt students;

Entries should be of an international image taken by a student while traveling, studying, or living abroad. Pitt international students are welcome to submit photos taken while traveling outside their home country;

Each student may enter only one photo;

Color or black-and-white prints are acceptable; and

The following must be received by 5 p.m. Sept. 16:

1) A digital copy of the photo e-mailed to abroad@pitt.edu;

2) A description indicating the photo's location, no more than four sentences, e-mailed to abroad@pitt.edu;

3) A hard copy of the photo (8x10 inch print, unmounted) delivered to the

Study Abroad Office, 802 WPU; and

4) Completed and signed entry form, delivered to the Study Abroad Office.

Photos will be judged by the public. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best three photos in the amounts of $100, $75, and $50, respectively.

Winners will be announced on Oct. 6. Submissions will be available for pickup in the Study Abroad Office one month after the contest.
