Pitt Dance Ensemble to Present "Mosaic" in Spring Performance March 24 and 25

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh Dance Ensemble will present its spring performance, titled "Mosaic," featuring student choreography in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and modern styles of dance, at 8 p.m. March 24 and 25 in the Trees Hall Dance Studio, Allequippa and Darragh streets, Oakland.

Pitt student choreographers include Sarah Dixon, Lauren Dobbins, Rebecca Himberger, Danikka Kopas, Dyana Murrell, and Anne Pavlick. The evening's dance concert also will feature a premiere of special guest choreographer Tina Custer's new work "Backtracking," set while in residence with the Dance Ensemble in February. "Backtracking" combines modern dance with hip-hop style. Custer has performed with Attack Theatre and Dance Alloy in Pittsburgh and is currently dancing for Shelter Repertory Dance Theatre, in Nashville, Tenn.

The Dance Ensemble, housed in the Department of Health and Physical Activity and supported by the Student Government Board, is a Pitt student dance group that performs theatrical dance and provides classes, workshops, and master classes for interested students. Many of the students choreograph, perform, and work behind the scenes to produce concerts during the year.
