PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh's Career Services office will hold its Fall Kickoff Event Sept. 23 on the William Pitt Union lawn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to all students, the event features programs and opportunities offered through Pitt's Career Services along with a stop by the nationally recognized Parachute Express Bus.

Programs and resources available to Pitt undergrads through the Career Services office include The Pitt Pathway, a four-step program designed to help students find a career or land a job after graduation; PantherTracs, a database for find full or part-time jobs as well as internships; and Career Consulting, a group of career counselors who advise students on their career options. Representatives from these programs as well as many others will be on hand at the kickoff event.

Started by 2004 college graduates in Port Richmond, Calif., Parachute Express helps students transition from college into the business world and help them recognize the importance of their campus career centers. As part of a 33-college-stop tour, Parachute Express will be riding into Pitt to conduct workshops that help students undertake the challenge of getting into the workforce and living on their own.

Students can attend Parachute workshops entitled 'Personal Finance' and 'Business Life.' Also, throughout the day there will be contests and free prizes for those who attend.
