Instructions for Media Covering the University of Pittsburgh April 28 Commencement Ceremony

Contact:

PITTSBURGH—Members of the media covering the University of Pittsburgh’s 2013 Commencement on Sunday, April 28, will be subject to additional security measures.

Members of the media are required to enter the John M. and Gertrude E. Petersen Events Center—3719 Terrace St., Oakland—using the Terrace Street doors closest to the ticket booths. The doors will open at 11 a.m., and media are encouraged to arrive prior to the start of ceremony because of the enhanced security measures. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Media should bring photo identification, preferably organizational credentials. Personal backpacks, packages, and oversized purses will not be permitted. Members of the media and their belongings may be subject to bag checks, pat-downs, and visual and K-9 screenings.

Media will be escorted by a member of the Pitt Office of Public Affairs staff from the entrance to the reserved media section of the Petersen Events Center. A mult box will be available for use by electronic media.

All University parking lots are free and open to the public on April 28; media requiring special accommodations should contact John Fedele at 412-225-6384 by noon Friday, April 26.
