Pitt Editor Ed Ochester Available to Discuss Inaugural Poet Richard Blanco, Whose Work He Has Selected for Publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press
PITTSBURGH—Ed Ochester, editor of the Pitt Poetry Series at the University of Pittsburgh Press and an emeritus professor of English at Pitt, is available to talk with reporters about poet Richard Blanco, who will serve as the Inaugural Poet during President Barack Obama’s Jan. 21 inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Ochester selected Blanco and his first book, City of a Hundred Fires (University of Pittsburgh Press, 1998), for the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize. The prestigious award, given annually by the University of Pittsburgh Press, recognizes emerging poets and makes their works available to readers across the globe. Ochester also selected Blanco’s most recent book, Looking for The Gulf Motel (2012), for publication by the University of Pittsburgh Press.
