University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre Presents Harvest March 29-April 7

PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre will present Manjula Padmanabhan’s Harvest—a dark speculative satire about the legalized sale of human organs—March 29 through April 7 in the Henry Heymann Theatre in the Stephen Foster Memorial, Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard, Oakland.

In Harvest, a futuristic multinational pharmaceutical company searches for organ donors in third-world countries. Om, a young man in impoverished India, signs away his body in exchange for such Western amenities as a private bathroom for his mother-in-law. But Om’s good fortune comes at a very high price.

Harvest is directed by Bucknell University professor Anjalee Deshpande Hutchinson and features Pitt students and artists in residence—actors who teach and hold workshops on campus—as cast members.

Harvest closes Pitt Rep’s 2011-12 season.
