LECTURE 

4/21                          Michael Christie, an indigenous language expert and education professor at Australia’s Charles Darwin University, will discuss his efforts to combine indigenous and nonindigenous knowledge systems to address education and social issues facing Australian Aborigines. His talk, “Teaching From Country: Stories and Place in a Postcolonial Australian Aboriginal Pedagogy,” begins at 3 p.m. in Ballroom B of the University Club, 123 University Place, Oakland. SYMPOSIUM 

4/22                          Pitt’s 4th Annual Student Sustainability Symposium features presentations by students promoting sustainability on campus and in Pittsburgh, food samples from Oakland restaurants dubbed “green”  by students, and the third-annual Sustain-a-Bowl, with student groups constructing booths from reusable and biodegradable materials. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ballroom of the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
