PITT TO START COMPUTER CLASSES AT FAITH TECH CENTER
PITTSBURGH, June 5 -- The Faith Tech Center, part of the University of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance, is offering free computer courses beginning on Tuesday, June 12, at St. James Episcopal Church, 11524 Frankstown Road, in Penn Hills.
Available classes include Introduction to the Internet and its Educational Resources, and Advanced Internet Educational Resources. These courses meet Pennsylvania Department of Education Act 48 requirements. The center also will hold a Computer Camp for children in grades K-6, a Teen Tech Program, and a Job Training Program.
The Faith Tech program and courses are funded by the Vira I. Heinz Endowment and operated by Pitt and the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh to increase computer literacy in the region while encouraging service in the community.
Classes are open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Students are encouraged, but not required, to serve in the community in return for the free computer classes. For more information, call 648-1440 or visit the website, www.faithtechcenter.com.
