PITT'S PITTSBURGH CONTEMPORARY WRITERS SERIES TO PRESENT DAVID LEHMAN, POET, CRITIC, AND EDITOR

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 23 -- David Lehman, poet, critic, and editor, will be the next Pittsburgh Contemporary Writers Series guest on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8:15 p.m., in the University of Pittsburgh's Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, Schenley Drive, Oakland.

Lehman, who teaches at Bennington College and the New School for Social Research, is the author of four collections of poems. His latest is "The Daily Mirror: A Journal in Poetry." His books of criticism include "The Last Avant Garde," named a "Book to Remember" by the New York Public Library; "The Big Question;" "The Line Forms Here;" and "Signs of the Times: Deconstruction and the Fall of Paul de Man."

Lehman is the founding and series editor of "The Best American Poetry," and is general editor of the University of Michigan's Poets on Poetry Series. His honors include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and a Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award.

The Contemporary Writers Series is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Wyndham Garden Hotel-University Place, The Book Center, Western Pennsylvania Writing Project, Department of Africana Studies, The Women's Studies Program, Center for Latin American Studies, East Asian Studies, University of Pittsburgh Press, Creative Nonfiction, Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures, and the Honors College.
