PITT'S KUNTU REPERTORY THEATRE SEEKS ACTORS FOR THREE PRODUCTIONS
PITTSBURGH, October 17 -- The University of Pittsburgh's internationally-renowned Kuntu Repertory Theatre will hold auditions for three productions, from
11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, October 21, in the Department of Africana Studies, third floor, Posvar Hall (formerly the Forbes Quadrangle Building).
The productions are:
• Mahalia Jackson, Singing on Holy Ground (January 25 through February 10, 2001), written and directed by Vernell A. Lillie
• Fortunes of the Moor (March 22 through April 7, 2001), a play inspired by the events of Shakespeare's "Othello," written by Barbara and Carlton Molette
• The Tap Dance Kid (May 17 through June 2, 2001), written by Charles Blackwell, directed by Ernest McCarty
African American actors and actresses are needed for all three productions. White actors and actresses are needed for Fortunes of the Moor.
Anyone wishing to audition should be prepared to perform a contemporary monologue. A resume and promotion photo (head shot) are requested but not required.
Specific roles exist for performers who can sing or tap dance. Individuals indicating an interest in these roles will be asked to dance or sing a cappella.
Those chosen for roles will be compensated. Anyone interested in scheduling an audition time should call 412-624-7298.
