PITT'S CENTER FOR PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE ANNOUNCES ANNUAL LECTURE SERIES SPEAKERS
Pittsburgh, Oct. 9 -- The University of Pittsburgh's Center for Philosophy of Science has announced the schedule for it's 41st annual lecture series.
Presented with support from the Harvey & Leslie Wagner Endowment, the series brings experts from around the world to examine issues in philosophy of science. All lectures are free and open to the public, and will be held at 3:30 p.m., in room 817R, Cathedral of Learning.

"Evolution meets Development: The Case of Cultural Evolution," presented by William Wimsatt of the University of Chicago
Nov. 10
"Metaphysics, Mechanism, and Newtonianism," presented by Lisa Downing of the University of Illinois, Chicago
Dec. 1
"When Words Go Wrong," presented by Mark Wilson of the University of Pittsburgh

"Consensus in Science," presented by Miriam Solomon of Temple University
Feb. 9, 2001
"Continuity and Logical Completeness," presented by Steven Awodey of Carnegie Mellon University

"The Rise of Earth System Science: Biogeochemical Models Meet the Social Sciences," presented by Dale Jamieson of Carleton College
April 20, 2001
"A Topos Perspective on Quantum Theory," presented by Jeremy Butterfield of All Souls College, Oxford.
